[Memories of Seoul] Seoul City Hall & Library - more than just a city hall
Have you ever been to Seoul City Hall and Seoul Metropolitan Library?
I went there in spring 2015. I was totally impressed with the Citizen hall building and the library. I think Seoul City Hall is the most beautiful city hall building that I've ever seen. These two buildings are located side by side. I planned to join their free 'Tong Tong Tour' but I was too late for the tour that day :( . Because I was already there, I decided to follow the route as recommended on their self-guided tour brochure.
Why this place is more than just a city hall?
Seoul City Hall has a special place on the basement level for its citizen for resting and holding an event, that's why this place is called Citizen hall. When I went there, there was a small exhibition about Seoul policy using familiar animated character "Pucca and Garu". It's been a long time since the last time I saw Pucca and Garu - I suddenly remembered about my college friend that called Pucca. We call her Pucca because she love that character so much. I rested my sore feet at the small lounge at this exhibition area while charging my phone on the charging station.
See.. it's really a cozy place, there are many sitting places and charging stations on the Citizen hall. They even provide a free WiFi on this place.
Not enough to surprise me with the Citizen Hall, Seoul City Hall and Seoul Metropolitan Library also has many attractive place to see, from the magnificent Vertical Garden to the beautiful sky yard that offers a breathtaking view of downtown Seoul, called Haneul Tteul Sky Yard.
The Vertical Garden is the tallest (7th floor tall) vertical garden in the world according to the 2013 Guinness Book of Records. It is so pretty.. when I saw it, I felt like I was entering a fantasy building.
The Haneul Tteul Sky Yard is another place that impressed me so much. It is located on the rooftop of the Seoul Metropolitan Library. I like this place so much because from here I can see panoramic view of downtown Seoul. I can see the Admiral Yi Sun Shin statue, the great King Sejong statue, Gwanghwamun. Gyeongbokgung and Cheongwadae with Bukhansan as the background.
Love it so much...
I definitely want to go there again someday and join the Tong Tong Tour.
