These days it gets dark quickly, even at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, and the days have become colder. This may be why we seek out warm shelters these days. So, today I would like to show you, the readers of Seoul Story, a place with a nice ambiance which is my own secret hideout.
Located in the Konkuk University neighborhood, Haneul Mulgogi is a seated cocktail bar for couples and friends who wish to enjoy a light drink. Usually the street leading to the gates of Konkuk University is full of young, rowdy people and the atmosphere is one of excitement. However, this establishment is a place of relatively subdued and moody atmosphere.
Haneul Mulgogi is located in the basement of a building. At first when I wandered in, I wondered if this was the right place. As soon as I opened the door, I was surprised by the soft and warm atmosphere. Haneul Mulgogi – the cocktail bar with the eye catching Indian-themed interior and lighting.
The unique feature of the bar is the pond in the middle of the room. At the edge of the pond, there is a seat for two people. The owner calls this spot the waiting seat. You sit in the waiting seat and then relocate when a table has become vacant. I wouldn’t have minded the pond seats because of the beautiful lighting, even if it was just a temporary waiting seat. But, soon there was a vacant table and I had to move. Haneul Mulgogi is a place where you can have small conversations without getting too loud. I really recommend it.
