The Herb Medicine Culture Festival was held at Yangnyeong Market in Jegi-dong, Seoul. Celebrating its 23rd year, the Seoul Yangnyeongsi Herb Medicine Culture Festival is a Dongdaemun-gu area event aimed at promoting the excellence of Korean herbal materials and to offer various experiences related to Korean herbal medicine culture.
Even though we have taken herbal medicine, we have rarely seen the preparation of cutting herbs. Naturally, the booth demonstrating the cutting of herbs caught my attention. I realized that the cutting of herbal ingredients is not that easy. I was even surprised to see that some materials require the use of a big axe to cut them.
Afterward, I visited the "Herbal Soap Making" booth. Visitors can choose their herbal materials and make natural soap by using soap frame, base, and fragrance. The following were some of the materials: Houttuynia cordata, which has effects of preventing hair loss and treating acne and skin problems; Saururus chinensis, which is good for oily skin or bumpy skin associated with puberty; licorice, which is known to be good for atopic dermatitis and acne with its skin soothing effect, and; green tea powder, which reduces the appearance of freckles and brown spots and provides moisture to skin.
